Booze, unhappiness, anxiety, and the ‘can’t be arsed’s’
As some of you know I moved house recently and I’m totally in love with it
I’ve been floating about thanking my lucky stars that I get to live my life
Then the other evening, already completely high on life I decided to have a glass of wine
And it was a lovely wine… a good one… no £6 bottle here!… and I had another glass
Then a wee bit more
Bear in mind I was already COMPLETELY IN LOVE WITH MY LIFE
I went to bed with a smile on my face, I’d watched a good film, I’d had a lovely time, and I flopped into bed one happy bunny
I woke up in the morning… feeling a bit crap and the ‘morning-after’ effects
That’s ok, it’ll wear off, and it, did so no permanent harm done
But here’s the thing… My mood dropped to a level where the shine was completely taken off EVERYTHING
I went from floating about like something from a Disney film, doing chores, listening to birds chirruping as if just for me
To a serious case of the ‘can’t be arsed’s’ and the things I had planned to do that day didn’t get done
I wanted to eat everything in sight especially if it had salt and fat in it
I even started wondering if moving away from practically everyone I know was a good idea after all
I know enough to be certain this wouldn’t last so I just rode it out but basically, I wasted what could have been a day full of joy 15 hours or so for a couple of hours boozing
And that is fine!
But…the point of my post is this
If I could go from being completely in love with my life and walking around thanking my lucky stars that I get to live it
To… a bit meh…
Then, if you’re miserable, anxious or depressed … and you’re drinking… on the reg
You’ve GOT TO LOOK AT IT
I’ve been experimenting with mood for a while, it’s one of my things
What brings us higher and what brings us lower
And this one is MASSIVE
I am not anti-drinking at all
But I am exceptionally pro FEELING GREAT
If you’re curious, try keeping a ‘mood diary’
Simply document using a code when you’ve eaten healthily, exercised, drank plenty of water, amount of sleep, how many wines, unhealthy food, sugar etc, and see how your mood differs
I have done this with my clients and it works wonders to see it as a visual
I’d love to hear how you get on
If you want to try it and would like a few more pointers get in touch I’ll go through it with you
